Care for Military Families & Veterans
Care for Military Families & Veterans
Hudson Valley Center for Cognitive Therapy (HVCCT) provides psychological care for active-duty service members, veterans, and military families, including members of the West Point and greater Hudson Valley community. Our doctoral-level psychologists work collaboratively with clients to address anxiety, depression, stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, and other challenges, with a focus on practical strategies that can make a meaningful difference in everyday life.
People connected with the military may come to HVCCT for many different reasons. Some concerns may be related to military service or transitions, while others may have little to do with military life. We tailor treatment to the individual, focusing on the concerns that are most important to each client and the practical changes they want to make.

Our Approach at HVCCT
Our psychologists use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other research-supported approaches to help clients understand the connections among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and develop practical strategies for change. Therapy may involve responding differently to difficult thoughts and emotions, gradually approaching avoided situations, building coping and problem-solving skills, and changing patterns that contribute to distress.
Treatment is collaborative and tailored to each client’s needs and goals. This individualized approach is especially important for veterans and military families, whose needs and experiences can vary widely. Two of our psychologists have worked in Veterans Affairs settings and bring that additional perspective to their work with veterans.
